We are sorry for your frustration and we will work to get this problem resolved.
The Brooks Memorial Library offers downloadable audio to our patrons through a Vermont consortium of public and school libraries who has contracted with two audiobook vendors. Read more for Listen Up! Vermont here and you may also wish to visit our Recorded Books option.
Here’s how it works. . .
Go to www.listenupvermont.org and read the Quick Start Guide. It's only one page and will answer most of your questions.
You will need your library card number to download items:
1. Search for your title, or just click on a category. Any that say "add to basket" are available.
2. You can download two (2) items on your card and have them for seven (7) days or fourteen (14) days. You can set your preferences.
3. Before you can download you will need to download a free program called Overdrive Media Console (Quick Start Guide). This program downloads and plays the item on your computer. PC users will also need to have Windows Media Player installed. Read Quick Start because there is some important information on this device before you can use it.

OverDrive service supports digital audiobooks for iPod® and other Apple® devices. Read press release and when you are ready download Mac Overdrive Media Console.
4. Read over the licensing. Some audio books you may burn to a CD; some you may only transfer to an mp3 player.
5. Overdrive is compatible with many devices and has increasingly more titles compatible with iPods and Macs.
6. There are over 675 titles now, and the collection will continue to grow. Some titles are always available, but most are only available for one checkout and may be reserved. If the one you want is not available, place a hold on it, and you will be emailed when the item is returned (virtually, that is!)
Brooks Memorial Library has an mp3 player that Optima Computers has donated. We are able to lend this out to patrons who do not have a player and would like to download the audio themselves.
If you have problems please send an email to brattlib@brooks.lib.vt.us describing your problem.
