There are many ways!
The Giving Campaign helps the library sustain valuable services at a time when libraries are increasingly relevant in our lives and communities. Help us meet our 2014 goal of $17,500!
Friends of Brooks Memorial Library, organized in 1991, support the library in providing the highest quality library service to the community by means of advocacy, public relations, and fundraising. Your membership fee supports the work of the Friends, and you might also choose to help with advocacy and fund raising efforts, including book sales and cultural events. The Friends publish a newsletter for members several times per year.
Bequests and beneficiary gifts help sustain a vibrant public library for generations to come.
Donations to the Trustees’ special funds help the Library purchase resources for its shelves and its online collections. Honorary and memorial gifts are a great way to honor special people while supporting the library.
Small gifts, even tiny gifts, make a difference. Consider making a postage donation when you receive an interlibrary loan, putting money in the cash box when you use a public access computer, or rounding up your payment when paying fines.
Gift certificates for a year of library service make great presents for out-of-town friends, who can access all the services of the library, including online databases and downloadable e-books, e-audio, and streaming video. Certificates can be purchased at the circulation desk.
Book sales enable the Friends to generate funds in support of library programs and services, such as lifelong learning programs, children’s activities, and digital resources. There are at least two sales each year, and the Friends accept book donations throughout the year. Please see the Acceptable Donation Guidelines if you would like to donate.
The Friends' Amazon page is a place to purchase rare, beautiful, and specialized books gleaned from book sale donations. Check it out!
Special Friends events such as concerts, dance parties, and other creative get-togethers raise additional funds for library programs and services and remind everyone that a quality library is key to quality of life in our community. Watch for news in the calendar section of the library’s front page, in the Friends newsletter, and in the Library Director’s e-newsletter.
The Library Value Calculator is a fun and fascinating online tool for assessing the value of the library in your life. Try it and share your amazing findings with your friends! Tell them about the specific ways the library helps you and what you value about library service.
